is it weekly beats? y/n

Y - rush it because chances are it's 11pm on sunday night and there's no way i'm missing a week now that i've gotten this far

N - if i have the time to put a lot of effort into something i will use the majority of that time wishing i had a new computer and that BFD2 didn't use every last scrap of RAM available.

i pretty much only ever use LSDJ while travelling or in bed so any time and effort spent is a bit of a blur really, heh.

also i like add9, sus2 & M7 chords in softer tracks cause i'm a little bit generic

but they're nice chords!

also m6 & m7 and iv chords at the end of sections in lieu of IV. i could go oooooon

a bit of delay + reverb is always nice (not too much though).

two or more squarewaves in unison with a touch of detuning are a nice, soft sound as well. you'll need a knack for channel juggling or maaaaaybe another gameboy for that.

dunno what else to say other than sound-design stuff - the writing aspect depends on so many things and is totally up to you in the end!

Is the variability of LSDJ's tempo too great to possibly record each track by itself in Live mode mix them in another DAW? Or would that be cheating? tongue

my gameboy is pretty good at keeping time, I think you could do that yeah! Also, I'd assume that if you mute channels then it has less stuff to process and can keep better time... can anyone confirm this?

I record the whole gameboy at once, though. Bit of EQ to roll off the dumb frequencies (steep HPF @ 40Hz, gentle LPF @ 16K and a notch at 9.25K) and a mastering compressor called endorphin to add flavour, applied in FL Studio.

okay nah but seriously every song should have the gameboy boot tone at the start whether or not it was actually made with a gameboy

how long does it usually take the guy to give you the username/password? does he just do it in his own time?

Within 24 hours for me, check your spam folder because mine went there the first time and I had to fish it out smile

Purely for a good balance of timbres, perhaps?
If it's more difficult to compute than a saw then is that why the volume control is nearly nonexistant?
