This is tonight! How are there not posts flooding this thread in excitement? Also just read the update on ??? and XC3N. Fuckin' bummer but Pixel8ter and Decktonic are good substitutes. EDIT: I'm coming no matter what.

Anyone know what time the bus stops running? I'm coming from Fishtown and really don't want to leave early or pay a crazy amount on a cab to get home.

I don't know anything about it but I'd love to experiment with it. Sounds pretty gritty and raw.

huh.. patches?? that sounds like a sick idea..

they are extremely fun and easy to make, especially if you can screen print. Which reminds me, i still have a shitton of skgb patches i need to get rid of

I'd buy one. Actually I wanted a SKGB shirt when you played at 8static in February but no one was working the table.

I'd buy a shirt for sure.

What size is the "not sexy" and why is it $500?

EDIT: Also any available that don't glow in the dark?

Chip Unce
This was massively popular in 2008-2009, but has slightly waned in popularity since. Famous for hyper melodies, four to the floor kick drum and always a very high tempo. Generally the Game Boy is the most popular instrument.

It seems 2008 hasn't ended for me.

Eventually I want to get a chipgrind project going. Think Pig Destroyer but with FM synthesis.

Pumped! Definitely will be getting there much earlier to get an open mic slot.

what do you mean exactly when you say that they're less aesthetically pleasing?

What I mean is that you can see each individual LED emitting light from the bottom (or the left depending on which version you buy.) It create three "hot spots" where the light is much brighter than the rest of the screen and for some people that might not look as good as the older versions of backlights or even the newest one from Kitsch-Bent, el-dmg (which I ordered so I'm stoked to see how that's going to look.) It doesn't bother me at all since I'm just glad to have easy to install backlights but it could be a deal breaker for others.

I will DEFINITLY still be using my DMG I just need to find a more reliable cart I guess.

I think the EMS cart batteries are just hit or miss. I think once you replace the battery it should last damn near forever after that. I could be wrong about the battery lasting a long time but I feel quite certain I've read this somewhere.

Here's a picture of the white and green backlights I received yesterday from Apeshit. You can definitely see where the three LEDs are emitting light. The light distribution is great but aesthetically it's not so appealing but they are very easy to install. This picture doesn't do it much justice but they look much better to the naked eye.

These are the older versions from Nonfinite. The light placement seems to be much more fluid and even but I'm not sure that anyone offers them still. These are a little bit tougher to install and wouldn't recommend them for first time modding. They're a bit thicker, you have to install a resistor, and you have to take out the battery LED.

Left - biverted
Right - normal

That should give you an idea of what different colors will look like.

Just some added advice, modding usually makes people nervous about screwing stuff up but it's pretty straight forward and it's not as nerve wracking as people make it out to be. Take your time and be sure  to read over the instructions before installing and follow along. If you notice my Black DMG you can see a large veritcal line going down the middle. This is because I had to yank out a screen from another DMG while doing this mod because I sliced the ribbon on the right of the screen because I decided to cut the film out entirely with a razor blade rather than cutting the left corner and pulling it off. Long story short, follow instructions and good luck. Modding is a lot of fun and the results make your DMGs look rad.

As for translation, 'Chronicles' are easiest, because it is scripted, so it is well structured and worded. 'Memories' are more difficult, because it is unscripted, with pauses, corrections, and thoughts not always worded well. Both let's plays are really difficult for me, because it is always two hosts, they constantly interrupt themselves and each other, and sometimes talks too quiet as well.

Your translation work is very much appreciated. This is honestly one of the best series of reviews and retrospectives I've seen on gaming, so I'm glad you're willing to translate it to English.

PSP's are nt reccomended, you CAN use emulators, and they sound fine, but they do SAV's in a fucked up way thaty makes shit complicated... i just use KIGB on my PC or macccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc

Yea PSPs aren't terrible. Different emulators produce different quality and emulation of sound so it's not always genuine and yea the save thing is weird I don't know how to transfer them so I don't use it much for writing.
