I have a multimeter. I bought a second keyboard that was 6 pin PS/2, it has the same colors as seal of quality mentioned.
I am using DMG 04 cables.
Probably gonna follow trash80's pin tutorial

This is relevant to my interests

I tried it with just one phrase (different pulse channels, still no commands or tables or anything) on each and still "too busy!".

I was getting this same before I gave up on the LSDJ keyboard too.

Both systems are groove 6:6 the BPM is 140 or 160 depending on song both matching. Tried over 3 different types of links, 3 different DMG's, along with a unmodified Gameboy Advance. Both cartridges are the same version.

I now have 2 DMG's running with a dmg04 link but when ever i set one to master other to slave it plays too fast and loudly crashing saying "Too Busy!"

How is syncing done? I'm confused.

Gameboy Advance speaker worked just fine though

Edit: is there anyway i can save from the cart on Mac?

Yes there is, sadly though the process of doing is done through terminal commands. (If your not familiar with it don't touch it) Its very crude and beta stage nobody has developed a GUI.

Luckily...
This is a much easier and cooler way,
I use a MacBook Pro, I own 2 of the Smartboy Carts. Never really had too much trouble from them.

I just use VMware Fusion to load my virtual partition of windows xp, then through that launch GB_USB.exe to write, read, save my files too and from both carts.

Send me a PM, I can walk you through it to get your .sav file from the cartridge on your mac.

If I were you, I'd do the following in this order:

1. Blow the cartridge
2. Check to see that your on the correct page of the cart (Green led on the top means second page is active)
3. Try a different Gameboy
4. Try plugging the cart into you computer running flashing software, Does the software accept the cart as is or are there issues
5. If cart loads successfully try and do a save of the SRAM (Even if the cartridge is fucked somehow, SRAM may be readable)
6. Attempt to re-flash your LSDJ ROM after a format of the cart

If its still not working after all of that then I'd suggest reformatting and trying a variety of other ROMs to see how it behaves.
This may or may not help, You could always upload a photo of these little dashes above Nintendor logo for science!

I attempted soldering a Gameboy Advanced SP speaker to a DMG 01. My results were a whole lot of silence. Switch SPK1 and SPK2 yellow wires from the DMG and still nada. Who knows, I only had one SP speaker and the golden pins that fold on to the speaker backing had fallen out causing much confusion and room for error.

Link to raffle would be awesome! Kitsch are you raffling off both case prototypes or will the be the one pictured? (sexy as all get out by the way!)

I just received my order of two Prebacklit DMG 01 Top PCBs.

As figured the problem lies in the CPU as nitro2k01 had suspected.

Although, quite interestingly I've had a very similar problem with my second 'broken' bottom PCB. It wasn't up until last night that I got all the units assembled and did a diagnostic test on the second board in question.

Now this board use to not display anything or activate backlight or even play music from the speaker, but I knew it was still somewhat running because there still seemed to be gameplay sound coming the standard headphone jack only. Yesterday I had powered the second unit off of an outlet connection, still nothing much to show. That is, until I connected the headphones this time around though and from now on it actually made it all functional again (Except those DAMN left and B buttons) but only when the headphones were present.

Long story short, I fixed it myself, it was a power converter wiring issue.

I believe this is where nitro2k01 maybe of some great assistance. I had loaded the left-test.gb rom that you had uploaded, the Nintendor swoops down as normal. After 1 or 2 second though the screen turns dark without any pressing of buttons. I loaded Pokemon red and I saw the system is constantly sending the left command. I don't have any real way to test the B button.

Would the problem still pertain to the CPU or could there be fault somewhere else?

I'm no electrician either but isn't the GND pin suppose to well ground?
As for wiring it up to the battery do you mean to solder connections (from cable or connector port?) into the Gameboy circuit board?

I later saw that diagram on some site it helped significantly! I'm using a PS/2 connector. One thing I forgot to mention is that there were 4 wires in the cable, I'm pretty sure I got it down as it assigns the keyboard I20 before freezing. Somebody want to double check this?

PS/2             Type               Pin#
-----------------------------------------
Red ---------> VCC ---------> 1
Black --------> DATA ---------> 3
Brown ------> CLK --------->  5
White -------> GND ---------> 6

Oddly enough if my research is correct, this cable had 2 ground wires for some reason. The white wire (which the internets says is GND) along with a 5th bare metal wire which I'm 100% certain is ground. I have no guess as to what the white wire is actually for.

***EDIT: I reexamined the original connector for the keyboard that I cut off. I have no idea what the fuck category this falls into.

So after completing xero's tutorial : http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/404/x … -tutorial/

I realized that I was using a DMG 04 cable instead of the 07.

So I followed Trasher80's guide to switch the pins too the 5v port.

The keyboard lights for caps lock, scroll lock, & num lock flash then disappear. In LSDJ when switching the keyboard sync in project menu it freezes on trying to make the selection. A reinsertion of the cable allows it to be selected but then once plugged in again it use to says "Too Busy" along the top title bar. As of now I have made some progress and it instead displays the keyboard as I20 in the bottom right but is then renders LSDJ frozen.

I checked all my connections, I checked the pin placement, the soldering that joins the 2 cables seems to be intact. Is there something I'm forgetting to check?

Although, I'm pretty sure it has to do with the 5volt pin. I heard that maybe the DMG 01 can't deliver a 5v connection through the cable?
Now I do have a great deal of modifications that could be draining enough power as it is (Pro Sound 1/4" Jack, 3 LED Backlight, and LTC1799 Precision Oscillator), perhaps adding the keyboard might just set it over the edge.

I had heard that its possible to connect the keyboard to an external power source such as 4xAA batteries. Might it be possible to just use 1 6volt/9volt battery.

How would I go about attaching an external power source?
I can't seem to find any information about this anywhere.

Looks amazing though kitsch keep up the good work
