I think a live performance would certainly involve a projector and powerpoint.

in the middle of the screen?
under the batteries?
on the dpad?
If it was on the DPAD you could use it like a joystick! That would be awesome.
methinks you all just got trolled.
He said he can't afford a Game Boy? You can buy a Game Boy for like $5. Sounds like a troll to me.
that shit sucks too. Why do people think that bad music is okay cause it was written on an old computer?
No, I don't think bad music is okay if it's written on an old computer. I absolutely think that his new stuff is terrible, but the older songs that I posted sound alright to me. Unlike his new stuff they don't sound like they were written by a committee, they have a fun sort of vibe and while I'm not running out to buy the album I certainly don't agree that "that shit sucks too".
ok, lets move on to OS and the mode setting options of nlmidi in command line... which OS? (some things work slightly different in command line in different versions of windows) are you remembering to switch the nlmidi to sync mode instead of midi mode (midi is for MGB only)? are you using "-sync" or "-SYNC"? (setting the mode in caps allows it to retain the mode between uses otherwise it reverts to midi each time its used)
I've tried it using Windows XP and Windows 7. The nlmidi software works fine for switching modes and setting modes permanently. I've tested the device in both midi and sync modes and in both instances the behaviour is the same. I've tried switching to midi mode and changing the delay, still nothing.
That said both midi and sync mode should act the same if your midi source is sending only a clock, right? From what I understand -sync mode filters everything but sync.
Im guessing the nlmidi isnt sending the lsdj midi sync information correctly, as he seems to always leave features half baked.
Considering lots of other people have had it work perfectly I'm going to rule that one out for now. It may be that this particular unit is defective, but the design isn't likely to blame.
well for the sake of troubleshooting, you should always start with telling people which version you are using for any and all software involved.. which DAW? which version of LSDJ... it could be either, but you give too little info to be sure. may be as simple as a check box that needs to be selected in your DAW in order to have it send start/stop signals
I've tried different DAWs; Ableton, Renoise, Reaper, Digital Performer, nothing works. Each one works fine with my Arduinoboy, however.
I've tried with Start/stop on and off, but Start/stop is not supposed to be required for LSDJ sync.
LSDj just reads the serial clock, not the data and hence interprets *any* incoming byte (8 serial clock ticks) as a MIDI clock signal
I've tried with every version of LSDJ between 4.6.2 and 4.7.3 and with mGB 1.3.2 and 1.3.3.
What's confusing is that LSDJ is supposed to read any incoming byte as a clock signal, the bytes are clearly coming in but it simply won't start. It's just really weird behaviour as it seems that everything should be working.
Anyone have any insight into the issue that I'm having? Still have yet to solve this.
I've now tried with 4 different cables (each one tested with a multimeter) and multiple game boys of different models. I have no idea how to get this to work.

So the mac version is not worth the hassle?
This tracker really seems promising. I like the songs made with it, seems rather intuitive and easy to work with, and I've been wanting to try out a tracker without buying an Atari, Amiga or installing windows on my mac.
Concerning searching or the files on my mac: First thing first: I am a complete noob. Second, I swear that my mac just could not find certain files. I mean, the dude did not make the app for nothing right
The file was likely in a directory that started with a "." or else the file itself started with a ".". This is how UNIX denotes hidden files and they won't show up in search results by default.
This is because for the most part hidden files and directories are not meant to be directly interacted with (in this case the config file is meant to be created and modified using Klystracker itself). You have to specifically indicate that you'd like to show these in your search results.
You can set hidden directories and files to be shown by default, but it's probably not worthwhile since you probably make more searches in which you don't want to see them than vice versa.
iPod/Droid Phone>1/8th > 15ft 1/8th femaletomale> 1/8th to stereo 1/4th jack> stereo 1/4th to split mono 1/4th> house DI.
The extension is for tomfoolery, but otherwise, all necessary. It's the only setup I've found that all my tracks work right on.
A stereo 1/8 to split mono 1/4 would do exactly the same thing.
OS X is way too expensive, but it's not a bad OS. Searching for a file is extremely easy, I have no idea why he needed an external program for it but I can assure you it's insanely easy to find a file, even a hidden file.
Windows won't let you see hidden files by default either and won't even show you file extensions without selecting the option. OS X might be stupid, but Windows is stupid AND mean.

never heard of him before this thread but this shit fuckin sucks
This was the stuff he made on Amiga:
Totally different than the stuff he's made since making it big, clearly. I don't really follow him and I had no idea his new stuff was so boring.
When I read PDX I thought you meant the warez group Paradox.
I actually have a different question related to NL Midi.
I have the NLmidi device in the correct mode and the sync pulses are being sent, because you can hear a bit of noise on the Game Boy as they are being sent, but it will no longer start playing via midi. If I press start the familiar WAIT message appears in LSDJ but when it begins receiving a clock signal from my DAW it does not begin playing.
I know that the configuration on my DAW and the NLmidi are correct, however. By starting song playback in LSDJ's MASTER mode and then switching to SLAVE or MIDI while my DAW sends sync works perfectly. It will immediately lock to the timing of my DAW and adjusting the DAW's BPM will adjust LSDJ as well. It will even stop right along with the DAW, it's only the start that seems to fail.
Is this something to do with a particular version of LSDJ? For those who use NLmidi with LSDJ, what versions of LSDJ do you have?
According to that image you posted, you just typed the filename wrong.
The file there seems to be nanoloop163a.gb and you missed the a in the command that you ran.
