[Off topic]: are you going through my .savs? tongue

@_@ How did you know that was your "Read Me.txt" file that I had opened? O.O

But... no. I haven't actually gone through them. Yet.

Haha.

But... anyway... the box is gone now. I don't know what it was, but I suppose this thread is worth leaving here in case it happens again.

For some rason there is a big grey box in the middle of my screen when I visit chipmusic.org, I thought it was a problem with my computer itself, but it only shows when I'm on this website. I thought it might be a PM notification or something, but... no.

Any ideas?

Edit: Screencap

I'm afraid to listen to this... >_>

I'm actually currently working on a chip cover of a gospel RnB song.... but I'm afraid to listen to this thing... I really am...

But Christmas chipmusic is cool, right?

There's also this: http://lsdsng.com/

For Mac, I STRONGLY suggest KiGB. For that one, you copy the sav into your "Battery RAM" folder. KiGB has dang good sound emulation on the Mac.

I'd recommend KiGB for Linux too, but I can't get it to work on my computer >.<

You can use a Gameboy emulator.

Also, this link might help.

At least your stuff is rappable. My stuff is always so filled up that there's no room to fit a freestyle in anywhere, so kudos for keeping it simple.

It'd be cool to see you fill in that space, though.

Is the second one supposed to be cool because it's broken and off? hmmm

okay then what's hardcore about a Doctor Who reference

The reference isn't hardcore. It's the referencing that is hardcore.

By "doing" I hope you mean "releasing" and not "composing". Keep composing tunes, keep racking up experience, especially if you're doing it on a portable gameboy instead of an emulator. Of course, everybody needs a break. But if you get an idea and have your gameboy read, track it down, man.

Here's a fun interim project: Try transcribing your vocals into the gameboy (given your style, the wave or noise channel [lol] would probably be best for that, but who knows? You may be able to grapple some screams and screeches and growls out of the pulse channels. wink ). Do it without the intention of creating a releasable song, but just to experiment with sounds and analyze your vocals in a more "musical" context. Who knows, you may GET a releasable song out of it =P

I just noticed something. Your tracks are very heavy on the high treble frequencies. Try dropping in some bass to balance it out. It also seems like you don't do much polyphony (multiple melodies) with your tracks, which isn't really a great thing. At least use power chords. Seems like you tend to stick to one melodic instrument at a time, (echoes don't count as multiple instruments). I still like the contrast between the boops and the screams, but it needs more in the way of melodic and harmonic content. Even a Round of "Row Row Row Your Boat" style echoes (you know what I'm talking about, right?) would work.

Also... each new post certainly does bring a more fleshed out feeling, but they're all starting to sound the same. Especially the screaming. I keep hearing the same "stay away from meee" rhythm (I know one of them was a remix, but still...). And, as opposed to heeding the advice of people saying to get more "guttural" and "deep", it seems like your screams are becoming more and more harsh, lol. But, hey. At least it's true to form: a kid angsting his heart out about stuff that he doesn't like. lol

Wow... I didn't expect to come back and post all that. My hands were washed. Now they have been soiled again.

Just make what you think sounds good, man. that's all I can say at this point. Take that however you like.

That was great. When you started talking about the lifespan of the NES and then the gameboy popped up, I was expecting LSDJ to appear on the screen and start playing sweet music. sad

I can't wait for the soundtracked version. I was not expecting to actually sit through the whole thing, but I got hooked at the Konami code.

Hmmm... if DJ stands for disc jockey... does LSDJ stand for LIttle Sound Data Jockey?

My body is very ready.

Hm. It kind of sounds similar to Snarky Puppy like this. Pretty cool. I love the blend of instruments, and I really like the arrangement. Wernt diggin the tone of that guitar, though... but I guess it had a chip flavor to it.

Cool stuff. *goes to google the original*

Reminds me of Sesame Street or Mr. Rogers or something. Picture Picture.

You could have tons of virtual experience with writing songs, without having written any. One could have the innate ability to know what sounds good, and have a good enough ear to bring that to fruition without having written 99 literal songs.

One could've been writing the 99 in one's head for years, but they weren't good enough to export. You know those little tunes you hum? Those count. One's first actual written song could be one's 100th. It's ok.

One.
