I only have people dodging the µ, but I don't mind. Not that I ever appeared on a poster or something.

Hi! smile

You are of course aware of the paradoxicality of this post?

After checking and checking again, I just don't have enough money. I really wanted to go, too. sad

If there's a stream I'll probably watch that, else I'll seek solace in hookers and gin.

http://woolyss.com/ ?

It has a really nicely organized Tracker-by-OS-or-System list:
http://woolyss.com/tracking-trackers.php
http://woolyss.com/chipmusic-chiptrackers.php

There's also rather comprehensive VSTi list.
http://woolyss.com/chipmusic-plugins.php

Maybe it would make more sense to just link that page instead of cluttering an introductory thread like this with a link collection and focus on Q/A stuff... dunno

Here's the link for the thread with sample resources

Dosbox link for emulation of DOS trackers on new machines

There are plenty of VSTi lists, but Woolyss' is the most complete

I have a soft spot for the geocities aesthetic, so I think it's quite charming, actually.

I'll however give a bit of general advice.

1. Confidence is a good thing. There's nothing wrong with taking pride in your work, and doing so makes it easier to try unconventional things. The downside is a risk of stagnation- dismissing criticism based on over-confidence will trap you in a cycle of repetition. My advice is to find yourself a hero; someone inside your chosen profession whose work baffles you, makes you go 'whoa' and secretly green with envy.

2. There are many, many areas outside ones own forte. It's good to have a wide spread interest, but you will never be able to master each and every possible art, knowledge or skill. My point here is: If you can't do something subjectively adequate, get an expert. I suck at making graphics and choosing colors, my interface designs tend to be usable but boring, so I ask an artist who knows what he's doing to do that for me. Believe me, having a quality result is much more satisfying.

The discussion is a repeat of this thread, and running a very similar course- I don't think there'll be any kind of agreement in foreseeable future. It's one of those pet discussions that pop up every now and then along with 'what is 8-bit', 'is chipmusic a genre' and 'ducks', so don't worry about it. smile

Something isn't right.

There hasn't been a single hentai, guro or furry pic posted yet, nobody cried for sauce, spelling and grammar are mostly intact.

What is going on?

We don't Fergie, either.

Yeah, that's the read-as-pokemon version!

I can totally do Water Gun!

Both and more. smile

Dubstep bass + DnB is tasty though. I also like DnB with shuffle feel (which should be compatible with dubstep).
