Haha, I like the "in ceterum censeo 8bcollectivum esse delendam"-s.

Anyways, the question is why people don't listen to the music, and I agree that one cause is it's not featured very prominently.
As a rule of thumb, people on the internets are lazy bums when it comes to navigating web sites. Each additional click necessary to get to content halves the visitors who bother. mk has a radio script, great, why not integrate it with the site?

Edit: Oh, and the upload section has had the option to enable thumbs up/down for ages. That'd be cool to have as Ajax in the radio- I can listen to random tag radio and thumble things.

What the hell, if I click this link in Opera 11 I get redirected to a youtube video o_O

Edit: haha, happens with all links that have double http:// in the url

To be honest, the site lost a bit of it's initial momentum. There were good ideas around, but doing nothing with the music section hurt the site; why upload here if nobody listens anyway?
We have a tag system which could really make a difference in finding new music, but right now, I feel it disappears because there's no global interface like a cloud.

Happy Birthday chipmusic.org!

You haven't changed a bit.

A musician is someone who makes music.

What qualifies as music is subjective.

lol awesome

Oh yes. cow'p actually has a pretty nice basschipmix here, too. Tracklist

I'll add EAT_RABBIT to the list of suggestions.

And plz something about DOOMBASS being the best genre tag ever.

Edit: Does EPROM count? Mixtape

Three years or so ago I got a new co-worker, with whom I share a room at work. He was (and is) a casual listener, pretty much playing anything from charts to house. The first few chipmusic tracks I played got a lol from him, but  after a time he started to play/google it himself- he seems to enjoy covers and originals that found their way into pop (the classics: Do It!, Silver Surfer, Kernkraft 400) the most, but sometimes surprises me by putting on something like a russian ZX mix.

Music genres are just big blobs for him, he doesn't seem to care about differentiating by artists- he wants house, he plays a house stream, and either the mix is cool or it isn't. Chipmusic is no exception there. I guess he sees no point in bothering with seeking out particular artists when he can just grab a mix mp3 he enjoys, which is fair enough imo.

I sometimes use that sentiment as a litmus test for my music, I'll play a track and glance over to measure headbobs/kneebobs per second. big_smile

I'd like to do something, but I'm swamped with work atm hmm

You can use the other track as well of course, but it's a straight cover of Triste- if you're ok with that, it's fine with me. Are the drums too pushy in my original track? I can put some grease on and mix it to the sound of a 1-inch speaker if you like wink

Sent my track. smile

He was just quoting my location tag tongue
