Continuing this derailing: would you believe that it was the complete opposite when I was little. We had *one* guy in our school who had had a circumcision. People sort of whispered about it too for some reason. xD

She turns to face you, the ears on her pikachu hoodie bobbing in unison and she says: "No. Sabrepulse all the way."

Jesus get outta my skull. Weird coincidence that this thread surfaces just as I've had a dream (last night actually) about meeting a girl online who was a chipmusician.

Without mods the sound is unbearable. At least on my unit, don't know how consistent the hiss is across units, depending on wear and tear. But the hiss is near goddamn deafening when working on it with headphones and the sound is in comparison very faint.

Still considering whether I should prosound mine or not...

Aside from music I draw stuff ( http://goroliciousart.deviantart.com/ not the most inspiring pieces up there I know, mostly character stuff) and I program stuff ( http://gamedevgoro.wordpress.com/ really obtuse, heavy reading).

Aaaaalso I have a side project in music, I consider my chipmusic my actual "main" musical media for now, but I also enjoy ambient electronica so I dabble in a little of that now, I'm learning new things so I don't really have any pieces up yet.

hey guy i dont care about what you did personally but i still think it s a really bizarre thing to choose to do

He *did* say he didn't remember or something like that. Which I think is horrible that he can't even justify it.

Ditto, but I'm an even more obscure guy than Alpine.

in creative endeavors, motivation is like the most overrated thing there is

if you want to make something, if you REALLY, TRULY want to make something, you'll make it even if you feel like shit doing it

those are the things you'll remember -- not the songs you made when you were "so inspired/so motivated." that's what you see on TV said by people who HAVE to say that stuff, otherwise they'll get cut by their record company or something

people do all sorts of things without motivation -- even music, believe it or not

if a mere lack of motivation is enough to stop you from making music, maybe (the royal) you weren't meant to make music.

Yes! YES! This! I call it a "heart-compass"... Sound lame but it's true. Your heart knows what it wants to do, you can't deny it and feel good about it.

OMFG TRONboy looks tasty as hell. *yum!*

My moniker is a programming joke. Or well, it's based on one at least.
It's very roundabout to explain (which I often don't). But for anyone here who is a programmer I can say this: "my" is a global pointer and "Explosion" is a member variable (or function, omitting the parentheses). It's also in a language that resembles C.

I use Audacity mostly. I'm used to the damn thing and it mostly works.

Sometimes though I get this weird bug where stereo sound is automatically collapsed into two combined mono channels (which sucks because in the past I never noticed until it was too late) but that might just as well be a hardware->software miscommunication or driver error or whatever it is we computer eggheads call them. Or maybe it's a thing with my setup. *shrug*

No worries man I got what you meant. smile

And I think I understand what you mean now. It's a very valid point and I'll definitely work at ameliorating this in my future tracks! (It's not a style decision it's just my sucky way of making music)

My music(or style) has never been compared to anything else out there so I appreciate that you took a stab at it. xD Gives me just a tiny bit of context as to what people think of it/evaluate it as. smile

Thanks guys! smile

@ Boy Without Batteries: I think it's time I do some studies on song structure I think. ^^; I've also just recently started experimenting with different instruments. In fact, that one track "Cosmic" is probably the track that has used the most number of instruments yet. :I

@ SketchMan: Will do, man. smile I'll keep going for the foreseeable future!
Thanks for clarifying that point some more: I'll think about it the next time I'm working on a tune. Doubt that I'm gonna understand it anytime soon but I gotta start somewhere! big_smile

Thanks again! Super helpful! big_smile heart

Cool man! smile

So better melodies then.... Hmmmm.

So. I made two new tracks pretty recently ( https://soundcloud.com/myexplosion/under-the-stars and https://soundcloud.com/myexplosion/cosmic ) and I thought to myself that they just might be a notch above my usual output (not that I'm really able to judge myself that well) so my question to you fine people is:

* What does the mixing sound like to you? Does it sound particularly weak in any area?
* What do you think of the melody and general capability to "follow" the track?
* Lastly: Variation. I know that every track could always use more variation but do these tracks strike in particular direction? Lazy? Ambitious?

I don't get a ton of feedback what concerns my music so I hope someone can weigh in here. smile

Hugs and kisses~
