Gold, Black, Gray, Blue. You do the ohmage math I haven't got time atm.

Of course since I suck at this it's probably the other way around which makes for 680 ohms with ±5% tolerance?

(I came back, I have some time now.)

I actually do see what you did there. Or I'm crazier than ever before.

Anyhow, yeah. Sound like your Pokémon games are just dirty as diapers. It's a weird coincidence that it spans more than one game of dem pokemans. *shrug*

"Oh-ho-ho-ha-ha Get it!? Get it, bro!? It's like LSD but the D is like DJ and that's what I am!! Get it!? It's awesome right!? RIGHT!?" all the while he highfives someone repeatedly.

Well. I've been thinking a lot about getting a mixer of sorts and I have a question. If I plug a gameboy into a mixer, then plug that mixer into a computer. That *should* allow me to record songs off the gameboy like usual but also allow more gameboys to be plugged into other slots in the mixer right?

The two mixers I'm considering are the MX400 micromix and 502 (both Behringer's stuff). The 502 is only about 15 bucks more expensive than the MX400 so I'm thinking of springing for that extra "stuff".

I can back you up with this. Contrast on mine seems a little hincky too. Just figured it was something that happens, not something I did wrong. yikes ( But no, I can't really help you, just giving you some moral support that there are others with this smile )

Jesus. Thought I was the only one doing that. Lube costs too much to make the price worth it though. Gonna have to pick up something else, then.

Aside from that I'm in art school. Pretentious artists making pretentious art. It's pretty chill.

To answer your prosound/speaker question: Install your prosound prepot.  It won't disable the speaker when you plug into the jack but you can turn the volume all the way down (essentially disabling the speaker) and it won't affect the prosound jack volume.

Also, I use 1/8" jacks just because they take up less space in a DMG and there are 1/8" to 1/4" adapters readily available.  So it's entirely a preference thing.

Wow. Thanks for that answer- you have no idea how at peace my mind is now! big_smile

@Xuriik: Yep. Don't worry. I'm not going to waste money on stuff. These are just thoughts and research. I'll commit to it later if I need to. smile
You make a good point about the RCA, and I'll admit that I didn't fully know what that enabled. I knew it was two jacks for stereo left/right, but overlooked the LSDJ panning detail. Thanks! smile

@Bit wish: Cool. That sound amazing actually. I'mma write this down for future reference.

@e.s.c and nitro2k01: Yes, OK. I'm sorry. *bow*

OK.

I'm back with some other questions, not related to backlights this time.
Again: I can't think of a better place to put this thread so I hope it's OK for it to be here.

* The question(s) are probably kind of simple for you people who are more fortunate in the modding concepts than me. I'm new to modding and fiddling with electronics as it is, but I'm very motivated to learn.

Anyhow: I'm in the pre-planning (I'm looking into the possibility rather than planning it full-on) stages of installing a prosound mod and was sort of wondering which one of them gives the most mileage (I understand of course that varies on what you're planning on doing).
I've heard good things about the 1/4" prosound mod because it plays nice with mixers and other audio hardware. And this is the primary one I'm considering because I'm planning on using two gameboys in parallel and I'm thinking I need a mixer of sorts for that anyway, right? Either a passive mixer (like some folks on here are building) or a usual audio mixer?

But another question is funnily that, is there a way to NOT have the internal speaker get the axe when installing this mod? I watched a video of a guy explaining how it's done and he just tore the internal speaker out because the override that turns the speaker off when headphones are plugged in of course doesn't apply when plugging in the 1/4" jack. So my thinking is, could you not just install a toggle switch that manually turns said speaker off whenever it's convenient? Because then you'd still be able to use it for games or such but also be able to shut it the hell up when plugged into a mixer or other?

But if I would be able to get a hold of a passive mixer somehow (either by some design that exists or building one myself however that would work) I could install either the RCA jack or the 1/8" jack mod instead.
I'm really not sure what's the best option for a guy that's not at the moment playing live gigs but can't rule that option out yet. Buuuut I could very realistically get behind the idea of an audio mixer anyway so the 1/4" doesn't sound so outlandish either. :S

Any ideas? Thoughts? "go-to-hell-noob"s? Fire away. smile Thanks in advance!

** I also apologize if I come off as I'm completely unloading here, but the truth is I kinda am, I have no one around me that I can discuss this with in great lengths.

Hmm. Yeah. I noticed a hum too. So far only installed two successful backlight mods but one of them has a clearly louder hum emitting from the internal speaker.
Not that that really matters, it just purrs like a little machine kitten.

I could only expect that it's a little like what happens to computers where there this thing: like if you have a sound cable thingy hanging too close a graphics card or something pressure on the graphics card can actually be heard through speakers or headphones. Very common "problem". ???

I have a mate who went to college with him! He stopped writing chip basically haha

Yeah. I remember he posted a goodbye note and stuff on 8bc back in the day. I miss his music like crazy sometimes, he was one of the biggest influences on me to ever start chipmusic making myself.

hmm

Aaaaaand he left everybody hanging with the preview of his album he was working on releasing, and I shit you not, that album preview has one of the greatest chiptunes I have ever heard. So I'm a little mad over that happening haha. xD
But it's fine.

Parents are parents- but mine are also very supportive.
Brothers and sisters are cool with chip and my brothers are generally big fans of retro stuff and of course remember the heyday of C64 and stuff, so they are also fans of chipmusic in a broad sense.

It's a very chill environment in that way.

Friends mostly don't get the fuzz but think it's OK/pretty cool.

I'd say go for it, as long as you have the links and fill the fields like everyone else.. its hard to go wrong with Google sheets, though a google form that inputs to it may make things a little easier for people intimidated by data.

As for organising the form, just click on the tops of column and you can sort by A - Z or Z to A...

Well then. Fresh fish or not. I'm on there now. smile

Does it matter how much of a "fresh fish" one is to the scene? ^^;

manufacturing new screens...  and the wait isn't as long as you'd think!

i was pretty premature before in saying they'd be done soon though, i didn't realize it then but i get a little excited about things and overlook how long it takes time to pass.  but, now, really.  soon.  samples will be red, green, blue and white.

actually, the LCD tech stuff is completed, the holdup is over <0.5mm in the plastic guard holding it into place (i'm adopting the same mounting mechanism as nintendo basically).  its funny how things work like that...

Holy hell. I... I think I'm *blushing*! This sounds unfathomably cool! D:
