oh, and chiptune (I'm not fond of EDM stuff though). Videovalvontaa was the first chip I listened to.

I think all you need for now has been said, just wanted to wish you good luck for your start, but since you seem receptive and motivated you won't need it 
All I can say about music theory is that you should learn basics just to have your ear trained, but don't drown into it. Only very high-skilled musicians can compose with theory only (and some don't even though btw), but in my opinion (I'm an average level musician) it's better to let your ear guide you, when it's trained of course. That's pretty much what aanaaanaaanaaana just said, in fact.

Arguing over semantics seems pretty futile. Also, there's a lot of lame/unrelated stuff on Discogs. Audio format bother them, while some horrible french football fans hymn exists within their data : http://www.discogs.com/Pacemakers-Group … se/4970601
I never liked Discogs, although some friends involved in the punk/rock or punk/hardcore scene have collections worth several thousands of $. I've always thought that it's elitist, incoherent and useless. Vinyls collections don't need Discogs.
