first check if the internal Arudinoboy is set to MGB mode, in the basic layout this is the furthest flashing led when pressing the mode switch, before the 2 leds flash on the opposite side.

MGB responds by default to Channels 1 - 5 (scroll down to the About MGB section here: http://code.google.com/p/arduinoboy/) so you need to make sure your keyboard is sending to one of those channels. The chord channel (which actually just plays every channel at once) is Ch.5 so I guess thats best for keyboards.

ordered! Can't wait.

My live setup uses an iPad to sequence MIDI. I use an app called Genome that I'm really quite taken with. You can brief see it on my video thingy here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoW1zmww8yo and thier website is : www.whitenoiseaudio.com ... I use a line 6 midi mobilizer to get midi out.

Cheers!
I missed Low-Gains one when I was poking around. I did see the (awesome) product but dismissed it due to its sold out nature. I'll pop a link in though as I would have snapped one up in an instant if they were still available.

Just to be double clear these are the sources I used, I missed out the extra mono tapping and pots as that seemed to me more for people who really care about their games audio, and not music.

Hello all,
the other day I decided I was fed up with the hum from the audio out on my NES and set about mooching the internet for resolutions.
I found quite a few sites detailing mods to tap the NES audio directly from the chip. However this did require using the Wayback machine and trawling forums...

This mod, for those who don't know, separates the 2 pulse channels onto one output and the triangle, noise and sample onto the other. Its not really 'stereo' but it is certainly beneficial for NES musos.

All credit goes to the original people who did this mod. However I just wanted to save electronics dummies like myself a bit of time and collect all the info into one little guide:

http://www.alone-music.co.uk/?p=681

Like I said, its for noobs, I think anyone with a bit of electronics experience would be able to do this with their eyes closed.
(disclaimer: don't solder with your eyes closed)

I have to say as a big fan of the NES sound, the mod is very very simple and really effective, the hum is gone and having the bass and noise on a separate output makes it easy to get a big fat bass boost on my mixer.

if you want to keep the KP3 in time with other things (drums etc) I wish you the best of luck. Though the effects are great, The looper is not a key feature and only stays in time with itself, I found it very frustrating as it fell out of sync (even with a solid midi clock going in) within a few bars and sent it back a couple of days later as that was my main interest in the device.

No idea about the Quad though. I hoe they fix the issue as it would make the pad essential in my book.

trash80, you legend.
Yeah that's it sorted, just gave it a test now and the interference on the other MIDI channels was gone. Lovely! time to sequence some crazy ass MGB! thankyouthankyou

how do folk.
I recently built myself an Arduino boy and got myself an EMS with MGB flashed onto it. Lovely stuff.. The ardunio boy was tested and working with my GBA SP and nanoloop, and MGB receives notes on all the right channels, however When I start another sequence to any other channel (ie channels 6 - 16) they interfere with the MGB and it plays those notes as well, cause a bit of a mess. I tried this from Logic and Abelton as well as an iPad sequencer thingy with the same result.

yeah.. that bit is a bit off.. I feel like shouting 'how MANY bullets, damnit!'

But the album is pretty damn cool, love the last track and 'Black Flags'

I just got my updated cart back from Oliver. Can't wait to bust out the new Sync options. It seems like all the features I was banging on about (start loops at the start of the beat, boot song mode into a sync mode) are all there, which is awesome for me, I really hope the MIDI sync is as good, will test it after work. Also I was expecting to have lost all my songs but they live! This maybe a good or bad thing...

I had a blast at Blip. New favorites: Knife City, Starscream, Noisewaves. Old favorites done good: 10k, Anamanaguchi, Tristen Perich.. now I'm back in the UK and jetlagged....

I'm booked in there, like a champ. Everyone like British people right? Right?!

for those GBA's I recommend Nanoloop!
2.3 is my preference but 1.5 also works on the SP and original GBA. Grid based music making with no keyboard. as mentioned above, you will need something to get them in sync. An Ardunioboy is probably best, or check out Little-Scales blog for his sync options.
You will need to solder/program chips etc.

as posted in the other thread, just cus i'm REALLY PUMPED... Got my flights booked from heathrow, so will be in NYC for Blip (and other more touristy fun times) 16th - 22nd BOO YA

I JUST BOOKED FLIGHTS YEEEEH

time to find a way to get time off work, been planning a holiday to NYC and would love to get all chippy during...
