it looks like a genuine nintendo dmg-04. is that right?

as far as i know, the dmg-04s don't have a +5v power line.

i may be wrong though.

when people end questions with prepositions.

it's technically not grammatically wrong, but it still bugs the hell out of me

so many awesome mods in this thread, i couldn't even manage a backlight!

i'm still probably going to use it for recording though, it's the only gameboy i own with a prosound.

just take out all the circuitry, mask all the stuff you don't want to paint with painter's tape, and use plastic-specific paint. make sure you clean the case before you paint (top rack of dishwasher, soapy hot water and a toothbrush, etc) and clearcoat is a good idea, but imo glossy clearcoat/paint looks like garbage on gameboys.

and take your time, a bad paintjob is a rushed paintjob. hope this helps!

i think there was a thread about painting a gba from the inside, i'll have to find it for ya

edit: here it is

edit edit: hey, you're WMD! your music is super awesome!

practice helps a lot. smile

i'm kind of weird as a songwriter-as in i'm not very creative. i can't just write stuff to write stuff, something has to physically inspire me otherwise like your experiences, it comes out forced and terrible. for me it doesn't even have to be huge, although those aren't bad. like taking a walk in a park, the way the wind feels on your face, when a beautiful girl smiles. just little things that happen all the time, that people almost always overlook.

edit: another way to write music is limitation. everyone writes on it, but give lsdj a shot. there are only 4 channels with a finite number of sounds, so you aren't shocked by all of the possibilities that you could do. if you're writing in ableton or something, you could spend hours tweaking sounds and layering them over other sounds, but when you're starting, really it's just distracting you from the actual writing. basically, just creativity through limitation.

hopefully this doesn't come out as nonsense haha

i like where this thread is heading
