Awesome, I fixed it. The ribbon cable wasn't connected all the way, haha. Thanks for the advice smile

I just successfully-ish backlit my first gameboy pocket, and it's got a problem. It lights up and I can hear the sound, but the screen is just black, and the contrast dial does nothing. It's making a weird hum too, like a computer moniter. Sorry for the lack of pictures, I only have a film camera. Since there are a lot of gameboy mod gurus on here, and I'm stupid, I was wondering if anybody knows how to fix this.
Thanks
Dan

Edit: I think I tore the ribbon cable. But I'm not sure.

White ones would be cool too, but I can only find them for the DMG. Maybe I could melt it to fit...

I thought of dye, but dye only makes things darker, and the buttons are dark grey, so that wouldn't work for making bright green, but it's still a really cool idea if the buttons were originally white.

I think I saw a midi foot controller a while ago on the interwebs, I'll try to find it.

Rubber, silicone, whatever it is. Essentially, the start and select buttons for my gameboy pocket. Anyway, what's the best way? Or, can you even paint them at all? I want them to match my buttons and backlight (lime green) and I can't find a company that makes MGB start/select buttons, much less green ones. Or if  you know where to buy some, that works too smile
Thanks
Dan

It kinda feels like cheating, like I'm playing a show with my iPod or something. That's why I don't like using LSDj unless it's with a keyboard, in real time. Maybe it's weird, but I know exactly what you're talking about.

Straight-up class out the ass. I need to order some now.

Hi. I'm Dan. I live in Washington, about an hour east of Seattle, which has an okay chiptune community. I very recently got into chip, I only have a gameboy pocket, I don't even have a cart for it yet. I first heard chiptune about a month ago, from Henry Homesweet's 'out-house' jams on YouTube, I think I was looking for how to make a treehouse or some stupid shit like that. I really want to get nanoloop or LSDj and just start making chip songs, it looks like so much fun. smile

and. I know basspuddle is a terrible name. I was bored when I made it, it certainly won't be my chip name when I start making music. I'm in the process of finding a good one.

I'm really busy with school right now, but I'd love to this summer if you're down.

Try not to sound too much like other chiptune artists.

Kitsch, thanks for having such a rad website, you have everything an aspiring chiptune-er could ever want.

I was wondering the same thing... I ended up ordering a backlight, I'm still not super confident about it. In the worst case scenario, MGBs only cost $20 or so, it's not a massive loss.
