My sis just had this blastin'... another really good Ubiktune release. Some day people are going to get SICK of so many good Ubiktune releases.

/!\ EDIT: Blood Fete is free until the 7th of August! /!\

ON UBIKTUNE!
http://ubiktune.org

Here's a video!

Blood Fete is a celebration of surrender by way of self-denial and self-sacrifice. "It's the Bloodiest party!"

Those who enjoy chip music, avant-pop, or early progressive rock should find something to enjoy here. There's a little dubby section somewhere too!

Note: This summer our youth group is heading up to New Orleans for an annual event called 'Feed the Multitudes' where thousands of groceries and shoes are handed out to those in need. It's a little more expensive than usual this year due to a few changes.

All profit made on this record will be used for transportation, food, and shelter on the trip. It will also make up the difference for the kids who can't afford to come.

(If there's anything left over I'm using it to fix this huge crack in my windshield. Surprised I haven't been pulled over yet...)

This is a massive point for me personally. I can't stand the commodification and fetishization of, say, guitars. The ability to create a huge, complex sound-world at (essentially) zero cost is unbelievably, unimaginably awesome. And the fact that my hardware is either RECYCLED (!?) or home-made in small batches... it just fits the zeitgeist like a glove for me.

I hate money and I hate corporations, and my experience is that chiptune is certainly punk in that regard.

Good point! While I'm not a purist and load my junk with any sound I can think of... I think I do it in the same spirit. This community has done much to help me realize the potential of my thrifty little 'studio.' Gives you a sort of contentedness with what you've already got... which kinda opens up a new world of creative freedom.

I don't think I've ever played or recorded a song (chip or not) and then never improved it (or at least changed it) later. Pieces are never done.
Songs usually take a long time to come together for me. They'll often sit around as skeletal ideas - an iphone recording of me mumbling, a few bars of notation with a couple lyrics, an LSDJ scrap - for up to a year before I come back to them. I work well collaboratively in that respect, I almost always have something stored up that fits right in with a new idea that can get my creative partner's proverbial juices flowing.

Changing my answer to this... sounds spot on for how I do stuff.

Wow, this is really good! Some of the other stuff on that label sounds nice too...

Emphasis on the word 'goony'... he's most likely a poster at Something Awful.

Mostly because I'm pretty sure I've encountered this guy there before. The entire post sounds eerily similar to a rant someone posted in my thread... without even listening to the music.

ubiktune.org has some good stuff too... Darkman's most recent sounds like something you'd dig. C-Jeff's Electric might be up your alley as well. My release is definitely proggy... but not at all metally.

Like most people here, I also use 8bc, so I'm interested in knowing what's going on with it. Doesn't seem too outlandish to me that we have an informative thread about it.

'Using That' 'Counterpointing' (makes me think of the 90's hahaha), and the title track are my faves on first listen. Pretty tasteful stuff here. Might get more downloads if you put more info in your post though.

Bumpin' cause this looks swell. Will report back tomorrow.

5 hours to 3 months (on and off). Hahaha. This one song seriously took me all of my free time for 3 weeks straight. One of my favorites only took me an afternoon.
