Great release, Track 2, is swell. This kills your last one.

"Dreams in..." is one of my favorite tracks ever from you.

I really don't understand why some of you guys feel the need to be a jerk to this guy. He's just asking for advice.

So, I'm having a little fundraiser for my new album. You can pre-order a digital copy of it for only ONE DOLLAR, or a hard copy for $14 shipped.

I'm also offering custom art and music for $50 and $100 respectively (but for Chipmusic/8bc people you can knock 10 from each, just make sure you PM me here)

Here's an example of my art:

And for music, go to
http://ubiktune.org or
http://jaytholen.net or
my profile.

Despite the title, this album will not be as 'preachy' as the last one. It'll still be blunt, just not preachy. And no I didn't put any chiptune stuff on the Kickstarter page, but it's going to be at least as chip oriented as my other releases.

It's also going to be weirder.

Thanks!

Bumpity bump. Got some sweet reviews:

http://www.originalsoundversion.com/get … me-review/

"Much of the chiptunes work is … not quite atonal, but certainly lacking traditional melodic style. Yes, there are songs that fit the scheme well (again I turn to “Be Alright,  as well as “Curtains ). But avant garde is an understatement. This is wacky usage of chiptunes, no question. But it sticks with you. When I first got wind of this album, I listened to it six times in a row. I dug it. My wife, who generally loathes chiptunes, also dug it. There’s something special going on here."

"The songs are lusciously produced and peppered with eclectic instrumentation, and the gospels therein are of a decidedly personal and unique expression."

Ohhh yeahhh. Thanks fellas.

Most people in their 20s and 30s like the chiptune aesthetic to begin with, primarily because of nostalgia. I'm willing to bet that those who listen to the 'well known' artists born out of the community don't really delve into it, or have much of a desire to. They stumble upon their one "awesome guy who does nintendo music!!!" and that's that. We're all music people here... but most of my friends who are casual music fans will have like one or two primary artists to represent an entire genre (ie... Bob Marley for Reggae) and that's the whole thing for them. Those who actually care about reggae will have roots, dub, dancehall, etc etc... but it seems like the only ones doing that with Chiptune are the musicians themselves. Those of us who haven't 'made it' to that higher level of popularity kind of feed off of each other or little niche communities (indie games, demoscene, etc). I'm sure there's a middle ground somewhere... but I've not heard much conversation involving chip artists unless it's with people already heavily associated.
