sometimes use max for lives one button recorder. a software loop pedal i guess. depending on the venues monitors (often play live in a dj booth makes it tricky to hear yourself)

but yes. effects make it more interesting in seriousness. just dont over do it. there is NOTHING more annoying than a dude putting beat repeat / freeze fill ins at the end of every single bar. used sparingly though the effects can make your set much more effective.

Re: Pretty Sweet article on chip in the New Yorker... (22 replies, posted in General Discussion)
nice that although its generally a kind of review of ananananamamama's new record, he takes the time to talk about more artists.
some great stuff has come out over the last few years for sure. I feel like alot of it is so dope i can just play it to people as music. not specifically chiptune. Monster Vision/ C-trix / Ralp / Monodeer come to mind, and the last few years of homesweet shizzle is pure gold. The same as the guch. I would just play them to people as a pop/rock band - not making a point of 'the 8 bits. I think its great that music like this is out there because it helps to clear up the mis interpretation that chiptune = gameboy trance music. And leads to pretty decent articles like this one. okay he mentioned mario once, but i 'll let him off haha

well i feel like alot of beans, myself included dont want to stick to the limitations of making 8 bit music forever.
Not that i ever made that much 100% chip, but a few years back i was using mostly all samples of that nature (on farewell static)
I think the limitations are what draws some, but for some its the sound. i was never that interested in working in limitations.
after a while i moved on a bit, and realised there is not a place for regular 8 bit sounds in the recent stuff im making. Still posted my last record on here though : P ....there were still a few moments of chip that popped up hear and there.
hmmm i always struggle to make a point
well i always have done this, made a glitch idm record, amde a sort of folktronica thing, made an 8 bit thing, then made more of a hip hop thing.
I think theres equal number of artists that either stick to a sound forever and those that fleet about different genres and styles
well i guess this happens in all genres. drum n bass dudes moved into dubstep, dubstep dudes moved into electro house. I guess they still have them playing crossover events. because they fan-base is kind of shared across genres i guess.
In respect to ANanmana you gotta think alot of people listening to them don't listen to chip exclusively. if they like that kind of chip pop punk then they'll probably be down to a bit of bleepy electro house too.
I have no gripes with people like sabrepulse, and homesweet getting less chip. It'd be a shame for people that talented to stick to only one side of producing and not exploring other sounds.

Life is shit sometimes. but also life is pretty long and the shit times wont last forever !
When you hit rock bottom and the people you thought had your back don't, the best way to say FUCK YOU to them, is to try and stay positive, get back up and not turn out like shitty people like they obviously are.
Hope things turn around for you.

yo,
dont really want to trade it to be honest. i may trade them towards a dope ass synth but otherwise im not really looking to part with them.
If i decide to trade them / sell them at a later date though, i'll hook you up.
If you're in Serbia perhaps you can nip to Russia and get me some Elektronika string synth or a polyvox haha
