Personally thought the parts that weren't chip were lame. I couldn't produce like that, but I'm sure he could have come up with more of a contrast. Like chip chip chip chip DROP chip chip instead of chip chip drip chip chip

Re: Synth Design Question (8 replies, posted in Audio Production)
I guess i left this one wide open. I will try to find some better examples when I'm at a computer tomorrow. Downstate: that honestly sounds like the best idea. I need a tape player for many reasons, and i suppose this just adds to the long list of reasons why to pick one up. Breakphase: thats what i originally thought, was using lfos to get that warped detune effect. I guess the purpose of this thread was to explore different ways of doing it. I'll definitely try both of these. Thanks!

Well actually a soft synth, but if you knew how with hardware that would still be pretty cool to know! I could have been clearer

Topic: Synth Design Question (8 replies, posted in Audio Production)
I am looking to create some older sounding synths. I love the sound of warped, vintage, synths, as if from cassette tapes or vcr cassettes.
I was watching Terminator 2 and got super inspired. Does anyone know of a good technique? I'm sure it is as easy a slight detune here and there, but I'm wondering how I could automate it. I'm not looking to do this on any medium particular. Thanks!

This is great! I feel with a nice noise filter sweeps and automated panning you could really improve the feel. It is so epic already. For the first time Rush and Chiptune are together in my head. Definitely a great thing.
If this turned into some kind of concept album, complemented with nice art, I would pay money!!

sorry man, wasnt trying to be a dick....
No man I've been up and down about school a lot. It was just you kinda reinforced the thought. And i go to the art institute for audio production. The facilities are very nice and my teachers are really passionate. But yeah. I'm thinking this is more of a hobby than a career. I wasnt being sarcastic at all haha sorry if it came off that way! I really do bump the mixtape.

Re: Arduino Drum Machine (24 replies, posted in Other Hardware)
might be a silly question, but arent you supposed to learn how to do this in midi class ?
This post really has done a number on me. After I read this, I seriously had to take a step back to think of what I've learned at this school for audio production. All I've really learned is to find the resources myself to crunch last minute projects for classes that weren't actually taught to the class. I'm paying an awfully large amount to attend this school, and I am reading from 7 or 8 instructables, tutorials, blogs, etc. that are on the internet for free. I will most likely switch majors in the near future. Thanks Downstate. I bump your mixtape a lot.
